Charleston Cuisine!

Charleston has an abundance of wonderful restaurants. One of my favorite places to go eat while I am in town is Five Loaves Cafe! It is located on 43 Cannon Street.

Erik and I met up with several of our friends at Five Loaves. It was so nice to catch up with everyone. I think living in the Upstate is going to make staying in touch with high school and college friends much easier!

They have a wonderful variety of soups, appetizers, sandwiches, salads with homemade dressings, entrees, and pastas!! And everything is BEYOND affordable! You can choose any two from their soup, salad, and sandwich menus for $7.50!

The soup selection changes daily. When we were there they had about 8 different varieties. I wanted the Mexican Chili with lime but decided to go with a salad instead. Last time we were there I had an amazing Tomato Basil soup!

They have SOOO many awesome salads. I always have a hard time deciding which one to go with. This time I tried the Tomato, mozzarella, roasted sweet peppers, asparagus and baby greens salad. YUM! And Erik had the spinach salad with grilled polenta "croutons," fresh mozzarella, pearl onions and toasted almonds. Delightful! They have a list of different homemade salad dressings. I have had the Balsamic and roasted garlic, Sweet basil and honey, and Wild mushroom and soy. All were fabulous.

I love their sandwiches too. So far I have tried the Tuna salad sandwich with red grapes, aged cheddar and tomatoes, the marinated chicken breast sandwich with fresh mozzarella, raspberry vinegar marinated tomatoes and a basil pesto sauce, and the Turkey reuben with homemade thousand island, sauerkraut, and melted provolone on rye. All were great!

Throughout the restaurant they have gorgeous local art. The paintings are very affordable and are all originals. I fell in love with the one below of Shem Creek. So we got it for our new living room!

If you happen to be in Charleston on a Tuesday or Friday night, make sure you hit up Five Loaves because you receive half off bottles of wine!! You can't beat that. Check out their website HERE!

  1. Yummy!! Fried green tomatoes are one of my favorite dishes!!!! When we went to Charleston, I had an amazing meal at Toast! It was called Eggs Meeting Street and it was a fried green tomato topped with a crab cake, a poached egg and remoulade sauce!! YUUUUMM!! It was so good! And of course I washed it down with one of their famous mimosas! :)

  2. ahahaha! I'm lovin the pic with Erik and the painting! I still think ya'll should have gotten both of them...just think it was probably like 80% off!

  3. I LOVE that painting! Great choice! I go to Charleston a couple times a year but haven't eaten there... we will have to try it out next time :) My favorite is Jestine's!

  4. That restaurant sounds perfect. I love a good salad and sandwich (Ruben, yum! Might have to make some next week.). Plus anyplace that offers half-priced wine is my kind of place! :) How quaint that you can purchase art, too. Oh, how I'd love to visit Five Loaves Cafe if only I didn't live so far away. :(

Hey, I noticed you and your friends all have shorter hair. So adorable and classy (helps with my decision). Your baby "bump" is getting cuter and cuter!

  5. Thanks yall!! And I want to apologize to the folks that tried to post a comment and it did not appear... Earlier today my blog was having technical difficulties and didn't post some of the comments that I approved. :(

  6. I love that place. Pam took me there one time when I was visiting her. It's pretty delicious. I like your pic on your page, but i can't see "the belly!"

  7. Jamie, you're the cutest little preggo girl I've ever seen (along with Luce Goose of course!) I hope to see you soon! Take care!!

  8. love the new layout on the blog jaime! :) grace.
