Day 3- Photo Challenge

Day 03 - A picture of the cast from your favorite show

Confession- Survivor is not my favorite show. I love it and think it is amazing but my absolute favorite show is Law and Order. Then I would have to go with Friday Night Lights, Dexter, Prison Break, Lost, and any SEC football game. I am also a HUGE Amazing Race fan. But.... my favorite cast of all time??? That would be my cast of course! These people are beyond amazing and heck one of them is my hubby!!!

I am still very close with several people from my cast and I feel like they have been a HUGE blessing in my life. I saw Leslie and her daughters on Super Bowl Sunday. Leslie is such an AMAZING woman with such an amazing faith. I couldn't say enough wonderful things about this lady!!

A few weeks before that Harper and I made our way to visit with Sherea in Atlanta!! She is so much fun and always let's us crash at her place. I love Sherea and I am so thankful to call her my friend.

The week before that we got the most amazing package in the mail from sweet Aunt Courtney and lets just say she spoils Harper rotten. I think the package was supposed to be here for Christmas but Amazon accidently sent Harper a Justin Bieber shirt instead. His "real" gift is sooo adorable. He is by far the cutest shark I have ever seen!

Todd is so thoughtful and checks in on all of us all of the time. You can always count on Todd to send you a random sweet text message that just brightens the whole day. And Uncle Todd got Harper the cutest outfit in the history of children's clothing. It consists of Diesel jeans, a matching Diesel shirt and red Diesel high tops. Talk about cute! The kid has nicer jeans then me!

And we love our sweet Peih-Gee and Frosti! I really wish I was able to see these two more often. Luckily the last time I was in LA, I managed to meet up with Peih-Gee! Love these guys.

30-day Photo Challenge! DAY two

Day 02 - A picture of you and the person you have been closest with the longest

This would have to be my dad, we have been very close for as long as I can  remember! This is a picture of us when we were shopping in Hollywood. My dad is such an amazing person! He taught me how to play every sport in the book, managed to put up with a house full of crazy women, and he has always been there for me when I have needed him. He has such a loving and caring personality and is always willing to put others before himself. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful father!!

Here is a sweet photo I took of Harper on my cell phone!

Teething Talk

Little man showed signs of teething since he was 3 months old. But sometimes I have a hard time knowing if his symptoms are because of teething or if he is actually sick. So I decided to do a little research and learn more about the teething processes. Expecting mamas, and mamas of newborns... this one is for you.

Teething Timing
*Babies can start teething anywhere from 3 months to 15 months
*They push through new teeth until they are 18 months old
*By the time they are two, they usually have their first set of teeth (including molars)

Signs of teething:
(signs of teething occur four days before a tooth erupts and three days after the tooth has broken the surface)
*Drooling- symptom of your baby's teeth starting to push toward the gum's surface (a process that can start months before the first tooth's eruption.)
*Facial Rash- Thanks to all of the drool, babies often have bumpy red rashes in their cheeks and chins. Wipe your baby's lip and chin often to minimize rashes
*Fever- baby's get a mild fever while teething but experts say that any fever of 101 degrees or more has nothing to do with teething.
*Diarrhea- There is a debate as to whether teething causes diarrhea or not but many parents report loose stools while their baby’s teeth are erupting.
*Irritability- can be more intense at night when distraction is absent.
*Ear pulling- the pain that teething causes in the jaw can transfer to the ear canal and the baby will often pull at his ears in hopes of helping the pain.
*Refusing Food
*Sleep Problems
What Do Teething Infant Gums Look Like?
They may be swollen and red or even bruised. There may be little white dots on them, or you may see small openings where in a day or two will be a tooth.

Teething Time Line:
First come the two lower middle teeth; next, the four upper middle teeth arrive, and after that come incisors, the furthest forward molars and finally the back molars. The first teeth may be the easiest for many babies because the teeth are sharp and thin, so they make it through the gum tissue with less trouble than the broad molars do.

Fun Facts- (if only teething was fun!)
*Teeth actually start developing while your baby's in the womb, when tooth buds form in the gums.
*Once a baby starts teething, everything goes into their mouth.
*Teething is one of the most common causes of frequent night waking during the second six months and through the second year.
*The first tooth can come in anytime between 3 to 15 months, with an average age of 4 to 7 months for most infants
*By age 3, your child should have a full set of 20 baby teeth, which shouldn't fall out until his permanent teeth are ready to start coming in, around age 6.

Do's
*Use a teething aid, such as a wet washcloth, teething rings, etc.
*Massage or rub your baby's gums
*Give your baby a mild pain reliever that is labeled for his or her specific age. For example, acetaminophen (such as Tylenol) or ibuprofen (such as Advil) may help relieve your baby's discomfort.

Don'ts
*Don't blame serious symptoms, especially a high fever or irritability, on teething
*Don't overuse teething gels and teething tablets, since they shouldn't be needed for the average teething child
*Do not give aspirin to anyone younger than 20, because it has been linked to Reye syndrome, a rare but serious disease.

If you have any teething tips for those in need (me) please feel free to leave a comment!!

Super Bowl- Baby Edition

What did y'all think about the Super Bowl? I am not a huge Packers or Steelers fan... so I wasn't really into the game. Luckily we had a fun little family bet so it made it a little more interesting. Sometimes I will bet a little money on a football game if I do not have any ties to the teams that way I have someone to cheer for and get excited about. I have been a Bills fan for my entire life so it has been awhile since I have had a team to pull for in the Super Bowl. I hope the Bills get better by the time Harper understands football so he doesn't have to suffer like I have for the past 15 years.

Well I made pretty good picks, I won two of the five bets, not too shabby!! Honestly my favorite part of the Super Bowl this year was the commercials and the food. We had sooo many treats. Marisa made a fantastic Buffalo Chicken Dip (I will have to get the recipe from her and post it on here!) and we had about 20 other choices of dishes. I had a cheat day... I just started my post-baby diet but that went right out the window this evening.

Sweet Harper loves to watch football. I think he likes to watch the colors and movement on the screen but of course Erik is convinced he is already a football fan.

Prior to the game I had a fun little photo shoot with the little man. He wore his best Super Bowl Sunday attire and did great smiling for the camera.

Of course Fender had to join in for a few picks. Now Fender is convinced he is a baby. When Harper gets out of the infant seat, Fender jumps in it and takes a nap. When baby gets  out of the pack n' play, Fender climbs in and sits inside it. It is absolutely hysterical. I can't wait to see these two play together in a few years.

Right before the Super Bowl we had a wonderful unexpected visitor. Leslie Nease and her sweet daughters were in town and met up with us to visit with the baby. Harper loved all of the girls.

And Harper had a wonderful time hanging out with Nana, Papa, Mimi, Papi, Marisa, and Kent!! He is a very social baby and loves to be passed around. (Luckily for us because everyone seems to want to take him!)

Harper with his Papa. I swear my dad is like the baby whisperer. If Harper is crying, dad takes him and he stops. If he is fighting going to sleep, dad rocks him and he is out cold. My dad is already looking forward to the day when he can take little man golfing. He helped coach my softball team growing up so maybe one day he can help coach Harper's team too!

Uncle Kent and Aunt Marisa played with Harper too!! Kent finally held him for the first time. Guys are finally getting comfortable holding the baby. He is big now so he doesn't seem as scary and fragile to them.

So overall, the night was a blast and we had a wonderful time! How did you spend your Super Bowl Sunday? What was the highlight of your night?

I will leave you with one of my favorite commercials from the evening (I grew up with a pug so I absolutely loved this one!)

Kisses with the Fishes

I was so excited to get all of the details for the "my funny Valentine Photo Contest" today! The contest has a plethora of fabulous sponsors and is co-hosted by Joni from Six Cherries on Top and Shannon from Webbisodes. If you haven't read their blogs, make sure to check them out! They are absolutely adorable!!

I decided to enter a fun photo of me and Erik from our honeymoon. We were in Maui, Hawaii. The weather was beautiful, the water was warm, and we had the time of our lives. We loved Maui so much, we sat around for hours trying to figure out ways to move there. Sometimes we still talk about selling all of our possessions, packing up, moving to Maui, and living a "simple" life. I think Harper would make quite the cute beach baby!

If you would like to enter the contest, click on the link below!

And I decided to start taking a photo of me and little man every day in Photobooth. Then I can really watch him grow. Here is today's photo:

Hysterical... enough said.

My new obsession??? Downloading applications for my new DroidX. Came across this video for an AMAZING app for the iPhone. I think it is HYSTERICAL!!! If you have an iPhone, you pretty much need this.

What are your favorite iPhone and Droid applications? Help me out folks.
