Baby's First Ice Cream

Every time we go to Charleston we make a trip to our favorite local restaurant, Five Loaves. On this trip Uncle travis joined us for dinner. It was incredible, as always! Erik bought me a gorgeous original painting for my early birthday gift. I turned the big 2-6 on June 30th. Here are a few photos from dinner:

We went to our favorite little ice cream shop on Sullivan's Island. Our original intention was for me and Erik to grab an ice cream cone. Harper kept starring at our treats and we decided to let him have a bite. When he took his first bite of ice cream his facial expression was priceless. To say he enjoyed it is an understatement. When we took it away from him, he was not a happy camper.

Charleston Cuisine!

Charleston has an abundance of wonderful restaurants. One of my favorite places to go eat while I am in town is Five Loaves Cafe! It is located on 43 Cannon Street.

Erik and I met up with several of our friends at Five Loaves. It was so nice to catch up with everyone. I think living in the Upstate is going to make staying in touch with high school and college friends much easier!

They have a wonderful variety of soups, appetizers, sandwiches, salads with homemade dressings, entrees, and pastas!! And everything is BEYOND affordable! You can choose any two from their soup, salad, and sandwich menus for $7.50!

The soup selection changes daily. When we were there they had about 8 different varieties. I wanted the Mexican Chili with lime but decided to go with a salad instead. Last time we were there I had an amazing Tomato Basil soup!

They have SOOO many awesome salads. I always have a hard time deciding which one to go with. This time I tried the Tomato, mozzarella, roasted sweet peppers, asparagus and baby greens salad. YUM! And Erik had the spinach salad with grilled polenta "croutons," fresh mozzarella, pearl onions and toasted almonds. Delightful! They have a list of different homemade salad dressings. I have had the Balsamic and roasted garlic, Sweet basil and honey, and Wild mushroom and soy. All were fabulous.

I love their sandwiches too. So far I have tried the Tuna salad sandwich with red grapes, aged cheddar and tomatoes, the marinated chicken breast sandwich with fresh mozzarella, raspberry vinegar marinated tomatoes and a basil pesto sauce, and the Turkey reuben with homemade thousand island, sauerkraut, and melted provolone on rye. All were great!

Throughout the restaurant they have gorgeous local art. The paintings are very affordable and are all originals. I fell in love with the one below of Shem Creek. So we got it for our new living room!

If you happen to be in Charleston on a Tuesday or Friday night, make sure you hit up Five Loaves because you receive half off bottles of wine!! You can't beat that. Check out their website HERE!
