I will admit, I have been a total blog SLACKER. It was funny, before baby I just assumed I would have time to keep up with my blog. Now that baby has arrived I feel like I don't have a single spare moment to sit down and do anything, let alone type up a blog post. It is amazing how fast my days fly by.
My little monkey man is growing up on me. It is kind of depressing how fast time flies when you have a little one. One day you are scared they will somehow break and they next day you are worried about what they will break. Harper has learned to grab things. And this kid is seriously strong. He was sitting on my lap at Joe's Crab Shack the other week and he managed to grab one of the large steam pots and pull it towards him across the table. He is a master at knocking over drinks. And now he likes to touch my cell while I am trying to use it. His skills are quite impressive and of course I actually get a little excited when he knocks something over... almost like it is some kind of accomplishment.
It is very evident that we were blessed with the best baby in the World. And that my friends is an understatement. I didn't have morning sickness during my pregnancy, he popped out after six good pushes, he only cries when he is hungry, and he seriously laughs and smiles NONSTOP!!!
This past weekend Harper and I headed to Charleston for my best friend Cissy's wedding. Erik was supposed to join us but unfortunately some things came up at work which forced him to stay in Greenville. So there I was stuck in Charleston with just me and baby (and I was a bridesmaid in the wedding.) Slightly stressful to say the very least. I commend every single mother out there because this past weekend I felt like a single mom and man it was tough. Luckily Harper is such an angel he made a complicated situation much more manageable. We woke up early Friday morning to make it down for the bridal luncheon. I had several stops I had to make on the way (I will go into that mess on a later date) and we arrived in Charleston at noon. Baby was wide-awake from noon until eleven at night. He made it through the luncheon, through the rehearsal, and through the rehearsal dinner without a single cry or a single nap. Apparently Harper is a party animal, he didn't want to miss a thing. But throughout the entire rehearsal dinner he was passed around to at least 30 different people and he just smiled and giggled at every single one of them. It was incredible. Once again, we are blessed. I know this is not "normal" behavior for a 5 month old. But I think Harper's great behavior and fun personality made a few other folks at the wedding want a baby. I think Harper should come with a warning label, "WARNING NORMAL BABIES ARE NOT THIS WELL-BEHAVED."
We made it though the trip without any huge mishaps and the entire weekend made me so incredibly proud to be Harper's mom. Motherhood is simply amazing!
I need to get back on the ball with the photo challenge. Today's photo-
Day 04 - A picture of your night
My night consisted of playing with my new MacBook Pro and trying out Photobooth with Harper. Poor Erik has a horrible stomach virus. He was sick all day so I had to bring the baby to my parent's house and Erik stayed with his parents tonight. We hope he feels better tomorrow! And I pray our munchkin doesn't catch anything from him. As far as the new computer is concerned, I love my new computer and I can't wait to test out Illustrator on it! The screen is incredible and it is super super fast! I debated buying a new computer for the past month. Luckily, I heard online that Apple was supposed to release a new version in the near future. So I was patient (for once in my life) and waited to see if a new one was coming out. Sure enough they released it on Steve Job's birthday. I am so glad I waited! It has several great new features and I think I would have been pretty upset if I bought a new computer and they came out with an upgraded version a few weeks later. I guess it pays to be patient. Well I am off to bed but I will try to do a few more updates this week. Life is crazy and lots of changes are happening in the near future. I can't wait to share!
I pray my baby is cute like that! One that smiles and charms every stranger he meets! Your son is adorable! :)

My bloggie!
Aww you were in Charleston this past weekend? Like the 4th-6th? What a coincidence because we were there as well :)
ReplyDeleteMy nephew sounds a lot like your Harper. Well, my sister had some morning sickness and she had to have a c-section because she had one with my niece, but as babies go he is just happy and doesn't cry and whatnot. My niece was the exact opposite so maybe it's a boy thing?
I had to laugh at your first paragraph because it's oh so true! I never would have thought adding a baby to the mix would take all my free time plus some of my non-free time. Chalk that up to one of those things no one told you about before having kids.
ReplyDeleteAnd your golden child, seriously a little jealous over here! At least you realize how good you have it. That just makes him that much cuter (:
Jaime! I am needing a Harper fix! When will you be in Columbia? I need some sugah!! :) XO
