38 Weeks!

How far along?
38 weeks! READY TO POP!

How big is the baby?
He weighs about 6.8 pounds and he is over 19 1/2 inches long

Weight gain?
Still at 30 pounds.
-
Stretch Marks?
None that I can see.
-
Sleep?
Sleeping good. Always tired! I think I am ready to have this baby.

Best moment of the week?
Our babymoon at Wild Dunes Resort was the best moment of my week. It was incredible. Such a relaxing trip! It was exactly what I needed. I think when I am at home all day, I have a hard time relaxing. I have a million things racing through my mind all of the time. Sometimes it is nice to get away, even if it is just for a few days! I have had a great few days really. My Uncle Tom, Aunt Marge, and cousin Katie, came to town from Colorado over the weekend. It was so fun to visit with them. We went out on the boat and had a great dinner at BIN112 in Greer. Then the glider came in on Tuesday. I LOVE it!! It matches the room perfectly. I even won this gorgeous Francesca Joy vibrant hand-painted tote bag from The Love List!  Life is good!

Food and cravings?
I wanted anything frozen while we were at the beach! I had yummy Snickers ice cream at Duney's ice cream shop. A delicious strawberry milkshake at Rush's in Columbia on our way to Charleston, and a non-alcoholic pina colada.

-
Movement?
He moves around SO much! It is crazy. I thought they started moving less at this point in the pregnancy because there is less room in my belly but he seems to find a way to keep on shaking in there. I think feeling him move is my favorite part of being pregnant. I love watching my belly go up and down and I have fun guessing what he is doing in there.
-
What I miss?
I missed boogie boarding at the beach. And just running around like usual. I kind of wish I could have played a round of golf too. But I have a feeling I will do my fair share of running around once this little guy starts crawling and walking!
-
Belly Button?
Never turned into an "outtie" but it is gone.
-
Looking forward to?
I am looking forward to having this baby! I can't wait to hold him in my arms. And I can't wait to see Erik with him. They are going to be so cute.

Most Nervous About?
I am actually kind of nervous about breast-feeding. I have heard so many stories of mommas that want to breast-feed and aren't able to. I really hope I can and that it is not too difficult. I took a class and have been reading books and I think I will be fine but for some reason it makes me nervous that it will not work out like I hope.
-
 Milestone?
Making it to Charleston and back without giving birth to Harper. Most people thought we were crazy for risking it. But I knew the little man would listen to his mama and stay in for a few more days! As far as my checkup was concerned, I have not really progressed any more since last week. My next checkup is on Wed.
-
I also want to give a big CONGRATS to Miss Caroline and Nick. They are ENGAGED! Nick proposed while they were kayaking in Isle of Palms, SC. I am telling yall, 2011 is the year of the weddings! And I think they are all going to be within a few months of each other. I can't wait!

I also wanted to shed some light on a very important cause.

September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and the color that represents Ovarian Cancer is Teal.

Ovarian Cancer, known as the "Silent Killer," is the leading cause of death from gynecologic cancers in the United States and is the fifth leading cause of cancer death among U.S. women. The American Cancer Society estimates that 21,880 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the U.S. in 2010 and about 13,850 women will die from the disease. It is an insidious disease that can strike without warning or cause.
"Teal Toes,"  promotes awareness to the symptoms of ovarian cancer.

"Women - and men! - are painting their toenails teal during September. Why? To raise awareness of Ovarian Cancer in order to save lives. Teal Toes encourages people to paint their toenails teal, the color of Ovarian Cancer Awareness, during September, Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

"Painting toenails teal, the Ovarian Cancer color, starts the conversation about the signs of this whispering killer," said Carey Fitzmaurice, founder of Teal Toes and a four year survivor of Ovarian Cancer. "The conversation can save lives. Women diagnosed at an early stage have a much higher five-year survival rate than those diagnosed at a later stage. Fewer than 20 percent of Ovarian Cancer patients are diagnosed early."

Go go get a pedicure and paint those toes teal!

And one more thing:

GO COCKS!!

  3. My little guy was doing summersaults right up to the very last day! It's very weird having a baby that big rolling around in there lol!

Dont put so much pressure on yourself to bf - whatever happens happens and there's no need to put any guilt on yourself. I look at kids my son's age and you can't tell which ones were bf'd and which ones weren't. Do what you can and just see what happens.

  6. You look great!! I breastfed for 6 1/2 months, but it was definitely a challenge...I hope that is easy for you! It doesn't work for everyone though. I would definitely recommend as many date nights with just you and the hubs as you can get in before Harper arrives...they will be few and far between when he's here! :)

I painted my toes teal yesterday...definitely not my color, but it's for a good cause :)

  8. I had no idea that teal represents ovarian cancer cause. What a wonderful piece of info to learn! Especially since I really like that color.

Tell you what, my baby had to get out by week 37. Good luck with your delivery. I'm sure you will enjoy the entire birthing experience, because it was just so special!

  10. Breastfeeding is one of the best things about being a mother and one of the worst. Take your time. I had some trouble early on, then it got better. Now I'm taking it day to day doing all I can to keep up the supply while pumping at work. I keep setting small goals like when she was born, I wanted to hit 2 months, once I got there I wanted to hit 3 months. Now that Bryce will be 4 months next week, I'm hoping to make it to 6 months. Good luck!
