Here is an example of chair rails and wainscoting in a nautical nursery:
And here is an example of it in a bathroom:
Here are some photos with blue stripes in the nursery:
We are going to have to choose one and that project is going to be the next big step in decorating the nursery. I try to pick up cute nautical items and decorations whenever I see them. And I am currently painting several canvases with cartoon sea creatures to hang on the walls. I just finished up a seahorse and I started on a crab. I think I am going to do a fish and and a whale. Then eventually I want to paint a larger canvas with a sailboat and his name. I need a full day to just sit down and paint. But life has been a little hectic lately. Now that my mom is out of the hospital I will probably have more time. And I need to have mom help with some of the paintings, she is actually an amazing artist and went to the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale where she graduated with a degree in advertising. When we were little, my dad built us a playhouse in the yard, it was just like a real miniature home, and my mom painted the entire house with Disney life-size murals. It was unbelievable! She said she wants to paint one for Harper one day too!
In the meantime I am trying to find other decorating ideas for the nursery. Here are some designs that I love!
This is the bedding we decided on! I received the bumper, quilt, bedskirt, and two fitted sheets at our baby shower and I LOVE it!!
Do you ladies have any fun ideas for decorating a "nautical nursery?" Or do you know of any places that have good nursery decor?
I am all about PB girl! grant's room is straight from the pottery barn kids mag. When I found out I was having a boy I went straight to the store and literally picked out item by item this super cute nursery page in the mag. PB is so classic- you just can't go wrong!
ReplyDeleteLoving the nautical nursery theme! Absolutely fabulous!

I love the idea of a nautical nursery! My vote is for the chair rails and wainscoting - then get a window treatment that used the navy vertical stripes!
ReplyDeleteLOVE a nautical nursery!!! I can't wait to see the finished product! Checkout Homegoods/TJ Maxx-they have some great nautical items. I am going to be posting my nautical finds very soon
ReplyDeleteHow cuteeeee!!! I can't wait to see the nursery all finished!!! I wish I had some good nautical decorating tips...clearly I need to think of a few! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy deocrating!
LOVE the nautical theme! As for the images, I love them all. Too tough to decide! :)
ReplyDeleteaww so cute, I love all the boats. congratulations :)
ReplyDeleteI adore wainscoting, we have it in almost every room in our house and we added it to our babygirl's nursery. We opted to paint the ceiling instead of the top 1/3 of the wall. You could always go back and add stripes to the top half after you've down the paneling.
ReplyDeletehere's what I did (disregard the pink)

I like stuff on landofnod.com and you can get lots of great ideas from browsing around etsy.com -- I would type "nautical" in the search box or something like that. Also ohdeedoh.com has tons of cute ideas and nursery examples.
ReplyDeleteHappy shopping!
Hi Sweetie! My son's room is a nautical room! I will send you a few photos...I Love your bedding :)
ReplyDeletecute!
ReplyDeleteHi,I love what you've done with your nursery! I am doing something similar and hoping it turns out as nice as yours! Could you tell me how much distance there is between each vertical "panel" of the wainscoting? I was thinking maybe 16" or 18"??
ReplyDeleteHi Jaime. one link took me to another and that one to another and I found your beautiful blog {this post}. Well,it just happens that we have a few things in common starting with having a little baby boy (mine is almost 8 months) and a nautical nursery! I'm half Italian, half Latino and believe it or not the only music I hear and love is Country...is that weird? LOL anyway, I want to say I think your blog is pretty cute and I'm going to start following you, is nice to hear stories from other mommies... Take care!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through Pinterest. Do you have any idea where you found the picture that has "Pierce" on the wall? I'm looking for that exact color navy for my walls and would love to try and track down the name of it! :)
I am so sorry, I have no idea. But I remember doing a yahoo image search for "Nautical nursery" several times. Maybe you can find it there? Good luck! :)
