I love Ellen! And I think this is a very important message. It is our job as parents to teach our children compassion, love, and understanding. We should teach them to be accepting of other people and love them for their differences. This story is tragic and brought me to tears. I think we can all learn from this. As a society, we are failing as parents and we need to find a way to stop the bullying.

ReplyDelete100% agree. Those poor kids and families. They've lost so much. I hope one day we can put all this behind us because no one deserves to be bullied like that. It breaks my heart. Love Ellen and how she's speaking out on this horror story.
ReplyDeleteAs a teacher, aunt, and relative of lesbian's it breaks my heart when I hear tragic news like this. I had tears streaming down my face. First, for the children, Second for the families, and finally for society. We need to send a message to Teach Tolerance!
ReplyDeleteI agree. This was such a tragic and unnecessary death.
ReplyDeleteHere is another video by Andy Cohen who is a gay man and is an executive at Bravo TV:

He assures gay kids that it WILL get better.
The problem is, one shoddy parent or one kid from a broken family who has his or her own self-esteem issues will ruin all the good work done by the parents who DO teach their children properly. Because as long as there are children out there who use bullying as a means to make themselves feel better, there will be other kids who follow along, even if they know that the things they are doing/saying are wrong. It's a vicious cycle.
ReplyDeleteThanks SO much for posting this video! I agree with everything on this 100%.
